Golden Opportunity
Baku, Azerbaijan
In the beginning of the 20th century Baku was producing half the worlds oil. This city had a golden opportunity from 1870 to 1917, and it could happen again soon.
The people fishing in front of the oil derricks are refugees from Nagorno-Karabakh [a disputed ethnic Armenian enclave in Azerbaijan]. They come to this golden place of the next century, but the only way they can survive is to fish from early morning to sunset.
